COFREET, the French Committee for Textile Maintenance, and representative of the Textile and Clothing sector, ensures the proper understanding and promotion of maintenance symbols among consumers and professionals in the sector.
The French Labeling Committee for the Maintenance of Textiles, COFREET, is an association under the 1901 law created in 1964 by experts from the Textile and Clothing chain in France. The Committee brings together nearly 900 member companies working in the textile sector. By joining COFREET, companies choose to inform each consumer about the care of their textile item, by affixing our symbols to their care labels. The French Textile Care Labeling Committee (COFREET) promotes the care code in the form of 5 symbols to consumers and professionals. These care symbols inform consumers about the care conditions of their textile articles. Professionals (fiber manufacturers, weavers, fabric printers, garment makers, distributors and importers), choosing to use this symbolized maintenance code, receive from COFREET all the technical elements allowing them to define the conditions of maintenance of the textile articles which they place on the market.
