Established in Paris in 1841, ESMOD was founded by Alexis Lavigne, tailor to Empress Eugénie, defender of Parisian artisans’ rights, and a major innovator in garment construction who helped lay the foundations of modern fashion education. Originally established under his name as the Lavigne School, the institution later evolved into ESMOD, building on his legacy as inventor of the flexible measuring tape, the dress form mannequin, and pioneer of early flat-pattern cutting techniques. Rooted in this pioneering heritage, ESMOD became the first fashion school dedicated to Fashion Design, and since 1989, to Fashion Business education. Today, ESMOD is present in 12 countries with 18 schools, including 6 in France, and trains each year a new generation of international professionals responding to the needs of the fashion, luxury, and cultural and creative industries. Through a pedagogy that combines transmission, technical savoir-faire, innovation, and research, ESMOD prepares talents capable of shaping the fashion of tomorrow. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
