The Albini Group has participated in the ‘Fashion Bridges - I ponti della moda’, a collaborative project created with the intention of promoting an innovative and sustainable relationship between the Italian and South African fashion industries.

The project is carried out by the Embassy of Italy in Pretoria in South Africa in collaboration with Florence-based fashion school Polimoda and the National Chamber of Italian Fashion.

As well, with the support from the Florence Center for Italian Fashion, ICE Agenzia, Nelson Mandela Forum and South African Fashion Week (SAFW).

To encourage new fashion talents, SAFW and Polimoda created a bridge for new graduates from Polimoda and various South African fashion schools to participate in an online training programme developed by Polimoda, with the contribution of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion.

The chosen students created a collective capsule collection and presented it in Milan Fashion Week, September 2021, and in SAFW, October 2021. The Albini Group supported the designers by providing a variety of fabrics.

The following graduates designed capsule collections based on these themes: ‘Mutual Threads’ by Fikhile Sukulu and Ilaria Bellomo, ‘Syrrogism’ by Jaques Bam and Julian Cerro, ‘Within social sculpture’ by Sipho Mbuto and Alessia Dovero and ‘The present human in an absent world’ by Michael Peter Reid and Domenico Orefice.
