Albright College marked its fifth consecutive runway showcase at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) this weekend, presenting 45 looks from five emerging designers. The Pennsylvania-based liberal arts institution, recognized for its fashion design, merchandising, and costume design programs, highlighted both creative vision and technical skill on one of fashion’s most prominent stages.
This year’s graduates brought distinctly personal perspectives to the runway. Salem Herr merged Japanese subcultures and fantasy aesthetics with couture techniques, while Skylar Viggiano drew on the bold spirit of 1980s Manhattan streetwear. Julie Duris approached classical dressmaking with playful pastel designs inspired by My Little Pony, and Alyssa Mask offered avant-garde eveningwear that explored the themes of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. Adam Moyer closed the show with a collection inspired by hummingbirds, using iridescent fabrics to evoke light and transformation.
For educators, the showcase illustrates how academic programs can extend beyond the classroom to provide students with real-world visibility and professional experience. “Year after year, our students prove that fashion is not only about garments, it’s about ideas, storytelling, and innovation,” said Albright College President Debra Townsley.
Though less widely known than larger fashion schools, Albright’s consistent presence at NYFW positions it as a growing force in fashion education. Situated in Reading, PA, within reach of New York and Philadelphia, the college demonstrates how regional institutions can foster creative talent while connecting students to global platforms.
