Amsterdam Fashion Academy presents graduation fashion show 2022

The Amsterdam Fashion Academy has presented seven Bachelor in Fashion Design students’ designs at its graduation fashion show 2022 to industry professionals and the media.

As well as the fashion show, there was also an exhibition showcasing the final projects of Bachelor in Fashion Business and Bachelor in Fashion Design students.

Arvin Mendoza Quirante’s luxury collection entitled ‘Siya’ was inspired by nonbinary people, and the name considers the freedom of self-expression, according to a press release.

Giorgia Tessarollo's ‘Green Screened’ collection consisted of four physical outfits of a green colour palette and four digital outfits created on CLO3D, a 3D fashion design software. With this collection, the student wanted to show how digital fashion can overcome physical garment production.

Janina Kraft produced the ‘Soft Life’ collection to provide a modern twist on the craftsmanship of traditional tailoring techniques and handmade fabric manipulations.

When Tafari Lake thought up the concept for ‘Heavly Savge’, the student wanted to bring all forms of fashion together and took inspiration from fashion icons from the late ’90s and early 2000s.

Nathan Bailari Hassan’s ‘Adom Redo’ collection embodies angularity, vibrant colours and retro jeans; he wished to make a message with his collection, one that criticises the capitalistic world of fashion and the conformity of popular culture.

The objective of Valerie Bogaert’s ‘What the F now’ collection is to show the panic some graduate students may feel once they finish university and enter the professional world.

Mia Skjæret Hanssen’s collection entitled ‘DSM-5’ is centred around the topic of mental health, particularly depression and PTSD, and she showed this by using colours and yarns that represent the emotion and feelings of those suffering.
