Public School co-designer Maxwell Osborne’s new women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collection, AnOnlyChild, will launch exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue on Tuesday. The news was reported by WWD.

The collection is made entirely of deadstock materials, including excess cuttings and fabric scraps from sewing room floors. Osborne created these pieces through the Ancient Egyptian technique of needle binding to fuse them together to create a new material.

The collection was inspired by Osborne’s Jamaican heritage, including the red dirt from Jamaican roads, which inspired his color palette, and braided belts inspired by hemp belts worn by Rastafarians. Due to the unique nature of creating these pieces, no two pieces are alike. While it was difficult to have cohesiveness for the collection in the traditional sense of the word, each garment is one-of-a-kind.

Osborne, whose brand Public School was once one of the hottest tickets on the New York Fashion Week Calendar, won’t be showing this coming February. Instead, he plans to show later this spring. This is because the process for gathering deadstock is time consuming, so it is impossible to make sure the collection can adhere to the traditional fashion calendar. He says he feels no pressure to be on the traditional fashion calendar either.

Currently, he plans to offer four collections per year. Price points for the collection range from 300 dollars to 2500 dollars.

The line was self-financed, along with a round of friends and family. Osborn’s Public School partner, Dao-Yi Chow, isn’t directly involved with the line. They are still co-designing Public School together.
