Renowned fashion designer Christian Siriano is set to bring a new exhibition to the Branch Museum of Design beginning January 17, featuring a selection of his signature designs alongside artwork by pop artist Ashley Longshore. The exhibit, titled “Undeniable,” aims to explore the relationship between fashion and visual art.
The showcase will include red-carpet gowns created by Siriano, who has designed for public figures including Lili Reinhart, Jennifer Lopez and former First Lady Michelle Obama. Longshore’s paintings, recognized for their bold pop culture themes, will be displayed in conjunction with Siriano’s work.
In addition to the exhibition, Siriano will conduct a fashion drawing workshop specifically for students of Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) fashion design and enterprise programs. The workshop is intended to give students hands-on experience with creative techniques and insights from a leading figure in contemporary fashion.
VCU students have also volunteered in preparing the museum for the exhibit. Organizers say volunteer involvement has offered students practical exposure to exhibition setup, including tasks such as dressing and arranging mannequins to approximate how the garments appear on the human form. Volunteers will additionally have the opportunity to meet Siriano at a private pre-opening event.
Museum officials noted the inclusion of both fashion and art, along with student participation, reflects a broader effort to highlight Richmond’s cultural offerings and strengthen connections between local institutions and national creative figures.
The exhibit opens to the public on January 17 at the Branch Museum of Design, with further details available through the museum’s official channels.
