The tenth winner of the 'Designer for Tomorrow' competition has created a capsule collection for fashion brand Joseph Janard. Lana Krude's six-piece collection will go on sale in July, said Dusseldorf, Germany-based, Peek & Cloppenburg KG, in a statement on Friday.

Krude describes her capsule collection for Joseph Janard as "strong, feminine, independent". The pieces were developed with the help of the design team of Peek & Cloppenburg (P&C), the fashion retailer behind the brand and the contest. Its online shop and selected stores will sell Krude's pieces, which are marked by deconstructed clothing pieces and newly defined silhouettes from classic menswear.

The work of Lara Krude has been inspired by her grandfather who was a bespoke tailor. Before designing the collection for Joseph Janard, she focused on menswear but whether designing for women or men, the philosophy behind her pieces remained the same. With her distal fits, Krude is exploring the room between body and garments, where the feelings are said to be seated according to Japanese tradition.

Inspired by her grandfather

Lara Krude won the 2017 fashion talent award “Designer for Tomorrow” by P&C and its online shop Fashion ID. The graduate of the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg presented her men's collection “Was bleibt.” ("What remains.") on the catwalk at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and won over the jury led by British fashion designer Stella McCartney. A visit to the atelier of the designer in London in February was also part of the one-year promotion program that Krude received after winning the competition.

The 'Designer for Tomorrow' competition has been put on hold in 2018 as the organizer is reworking the concept.
