Savannah College of Art and Design has opened a new exhibition titled Dior: Crafting Fashion at the SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film, marking the first museum presentation dedicated to the House of Dior in the southeastern United States.
Created by Christian Dior Couture in collaboration with the university, the exhibition is curated by Hélène Starkman and organised by Rafael Brauer Gomes. It explores the heritage and creative processes of the Dior maison through more than 100 historical pieces, some shown publicly for the first time.
Structured across seven thematic sections, the exhibition traces the evolution of the house from founder Christian Dior to contemporary creative leadership, including Jonathan Anderson. Displays include early toiles, reinterpretations of the Lady Dior handbag by American artists, and looks drawn from runway and red carpet moments.
The exhibition highlights the full creative cycle—from sketches and atelier development to styling and catwalk presentation—offering insights into craftsmanship and design decision-making. It also emphasises Dior’s architectural influences and the transmission of expertise between successive creative directors.
The opening served as the finale to SCADstyle, the university’s annual programme focused on design and innovation. Students across disciplines, including fashion design, branding and photography, participated in private tours and lectures with Dior representatives, providing educational engagement alongside the public exhibition.
The initiative continues SCAD’s collaboration with Dior following the 2025 presentation of Christian Dior: Jardins Rêvés in Lacoste, reinforcing partnerships between fashion education and heritage luxury brands. For fashion students and educators, the exhibition offers a case study in craftsmanship, brand identity and the evolution of couture practice.
