On June 23, the Ethical Fashion Triathlon will take place in Paris, an event organised in the context of the Paris Olympic Games 2024, that aims to raise awareness about responsible fashion and recycling.

The event is an initiative of French non-profit organisation Universal Love and is organised under the patronage of the French Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

The Ethical Fashion Triathlon consists of three smaller events, each with the objective of educating people about ethical fashion. On June 23, prizes will be awarded to the five winners of the first triathlon event, for which candidates had to create outfits made from recycled materials or objects related to sports.

The official kick-off of the competitions took place on November 8 and 9, 2021 at the Condorcet campus in Aubervilliers, France. The event brought together more than 400 students from a dozen schools, including vocational and technical high schools, and members of the campus for fashion professions and qualifications from the Île-de-France region, Paris. The participants come from technical and vocational high schools and from fashion, art and design colleges.

The jury is made up of athletes such as gymnast Marine Boyer; professionals from the fashion sector such as Camille Hutin, the director of communication and programming for 19M (fashion arts and crafts of the Chanel group); and people working within the organisation of the Paris Olympics. The name of the luxury group Kering also appears in the project with the participation of Marie-Claire Daveu, director of sustainable development and institutional affairs at Kering, as the sponsor of the event.

Prior to the awards ceremony, the event will feature an exhibition open to the public in the Salle des fêtes of the Climate Academy of Paris, located in the fourth arrondissement of the French capital.

The next events will take place in the regions of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur. The project will end with the Olympic and Paralympic Games from July to September in Paris in 2024.
