European fashion and footwear schools compete at ModaPortugal 2017

Students from more than ten European fashion and footwear schools gathered at the ModaPortugal conference and competition from December 11 to 13 in Porto, in the north of Portugal.

The fashion design competition featured 33 young designers from eight countries and schools, ranging from the German fashion school AMD in Munich to the London College of Fashion.

Cyril Bourez from Belgium won the price for the Best General European Young Fashion Collection and Daniel Gonçalves from Portugal received the award for Best General European Young Footwear Collection. Both awards were handed out with prize money of 5,000 euros each. The best fashion and footwear collection per country were also awarded with 2,500 euros each.

As part of the three-day event, the fashion students also visited Portuguese textile and footwear companies like Calvelex and Nobrand.

Portuguese fashion and footwear labels including A Primitiva, Caiagua and Daily Day showcased their pieces at the event.
