Set up in 2008, EIDM Paris (École Internationale de Mode & Luxe) offers undergraduate and graduate programs built up to analyze and master the image and brand. FashionUnited recently spoke to Mégane Simon, Director at EIDM to discuss the type of courses the college offers, the impact of Covid-19, and the future plans of the institute.

How has the transition from in-house to remote learning been for the school and students?

Our school was closed in March 2020 for 5 months. We opened again in September 2020, but only for one month. On remote learning, we maintained every class which was initially planned in-house. Classes were on Zoom. Since February 1st, we can welcome a small number of students. We equipped each classroom with a camera and a microphone, so we can have half a class in-house and the other half at home, on remote learning. We try to stay in contact with every student as much as possible. To help students during this difficult period, we offer free psychologist consultations by webcam.

How would you describe EIDM’s student community?

EIDM’s student community is getting larger each year. From 150 students 3 years ago, we now have 300 students. Each year we organize an Integration Day in order to create a sense of belonging to the school. EIDM’s students also elect each year their own representatives for the Student Office. EIDM implements a Community Service Program: students are expected to play a positive role in society at large, providing services to those who need specific support.

What kind of courses does EIDM offer? What is the focus area?

EIDM offers undergraduate and graduate programs in fashion & luxury.

Bachelor (3 years): Art Direction & Styling / Luxury Management / Fashion Business / Fashion Communication & Marketing.

Master (2 years): Fashion Art & Event Director / Fashion & Luxury Management.

Mastering (1 year for adults in professional transition): Fashion Business / Fashion Stylist

The programs are available at school and online.

What do we need to know about EIDM?

EIDM guarantees quality education based on its practice of learning by doing an active approach. Course programs are centered on problem-solving and practical projects, such as the organization of a Fashion Show, the creation and launching of a Fashion Magazine, the organization of a Pop-Up Store, and the launching of a brand or a company.

EIDM’s motto is: Believe, Want, Achieve. We want to promote self-confidence and strongly believe that if you believe in your goal and give you the way to succeed, you will achieve it.

EIDM is an associate business member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). CEOWORLD Magazine recently ranked EIDM as #79 in the Business Schools global ranking and as the #1 Fashion School in France.

What are the plans for this year? Any new things coming up?

EIDM was awarded an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education for 2021-2027 and is currently expanding its international network. Several new partnerships have been signed to enable students to do one-semester experience in a European university, in Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovenia. We also have an inter-institutional agreement with LIM College, in New York. We hope to welcome international students from September 2021.

Do you have any tips for future students who want to study at EIDM?

We call Paris one of the four fashion capitals, so studying in Fashion and Luxury-oriented programs at EIDM Paris is definitely a wise decision! The best qualities to join EIDM are to be motivated, team-worker, creative, and diligent.
