Recently, eight FIDM graduates from the Advanced Fashion Design programme presented their work during the college’s annual Debut Runway Show.
The final creations were developed over a nine month period and involved “intensive theoretical research, advanced fashion construction and collection development”, according to a release shared by the school.
The co-chairs of the Advanced Fashion Design programme at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Nick Verreos and David Paul, guided the students through the process.
Advanced Fashion Design is a specialised programme that is taught in the third year of the Bachelor degree in Design at FIDM.
Each year, the college chooses students to participate in the programme. In order to be eligible to participate, students must first receive their Associate of Arts degree.
Students are then selected based on general academic achievements such as overall grade point average and references as well as fashion design talent, evaluated on the basis of a portfolio review, individual talent, skill level, and formal interviews with Department Chairs from FIDM.
The eight students who presented their work at the Debut Runway Show 2022 are Sasha Swedlund, Joel Elliott, Susan Lizotte, Cole Moscaret, Ethan Martin, Yubin Min, Esther Gaor, and Thierry Kepgang Nana.
