Italian luxury retailer Furla has partnered up with Italian college Accademia Costume & Moda so that the institute’s Master in Accessories Design students have the opportunity to work with the brand.

The 15 master students will be given the task to develop their own capsule collection of bags for Furla and they will be presented a brief containing three creative approaches, after reviewing the options they can choose one freely.

The first approach is to create a modern and vibrant bag with interesting proportions and materials for the new generation. The second option is to design a bag highlighting the artistic and cultural activities at Fondazione Furla and the final approach is to have sustainability as the focal point of the design.

A prototype of the best capsule collections will be created in July 2021 and selected through graphic presentations. The winner will be offered an internship within Furla HQ to work with its in-house designers.

Giovanna Furlanetto, president at Furla Spa, said in a statement: “With this project, Furla reconfirms its commitment to education. I am confident that hands-on collaborations with direct access to the fashion system allow emerging talent to flourish.”

Chairman of Accademia Costume & Moda Lupo Lanzara added: “As ACM, we have chosen to invest in our students, giving them the opportunity to work closely with the most relevant Italian companies.

“With them we created the Industry Projects, now a hallmark of our teaching, it is a constantly evolving path we follow together with the partnering firms. Furla has represented Italian style since 1927 and has raised the quality standards of Made in Italy. We can’t wait to embark on this important adventure.”
