IED alumna Aitor Goikoetxea wins ITS Contest 2021

IED Barcelona’s BA in Fashion Design alumna Aitor Goikoetxea has won the ITS Responsible Creativity Award for his collection entitled Aitarekin Afaltzen (Dinner with my Father).

To create the colourful collection, Goikoetxea used manual and traditional processes, for example, he created fabrics from embroidery, hand knitting and scratch. As well, he used napkins to make shirts, tablecloths to make trouser skirts and he used prints made from photographs.

Goikoetxea said in a statement: “My collection is a journey to my past in which I reflect on the relationship I had with my father. My father died eight years ago, and at that moment I realised that he was unknown to me.

“The fact of seeing him four days a month supposed that the moments in which we sit on a table were essential to connect. Those eating moments were always full of nostalgia since we always talk of the past, things that already happened, or the future, thinking about things that would still happen.”
