IED Madrid has presented a graduation show for the university’s final-year fashion students under the RE_ theme after a two-year hiatus from its usual physical event due to Covid-19.
20 IED Madrid students have experimented with concepts, fabrics and techniques to give new meanings to their designs. The theme is about a global REthinking of social, economic, labour, and cultural forces, among other concepts.
Moisés Nieto, project manager of the business alliance of IED Madrid, said in a statement: “It is quite a challenge to be able to return to presenting the fashion show in person. Living the adrenaline of a great show with fashion design students is undoubtedly the final touch to four years of effort and enthusiasm.
“In addition, being able to do it in a place like Serrería Belga in the heart of Madrid. Undoubtedly we want to focus on the work of these 20 students who will be the future of fashion.”
The following 20 students presented their collections: Adriane Baquerizo, Alicia Losada García, Ana García Díaz, Ariana Rosales Faizán, Cecilia Navarro Megías, Claudia Pérez Corral, Claudia Romero Areces, Isabel García Pujante, and Juan Antonio Lumbreras García.
In addition to María Furió González, Marina Lorán López, Marta Mateos Maza Marycruz García González, Nicolás Zalba Iribarren, Pablo Barrera Rodríguez, Paula Martínez Albero, Sergio Márquez Fuentes, Sofía Mariz Fernández, Victoria Fernández Cubero and Vittoria Santilli.
Eduardo Sánchez, the director of the IED Madrid, explained: “The diverse profile of our students resulted in a kaleidoscope of projects that reflect current and future fashion. The vision of diversity, inclusivity and sustainability from aesthetics is the backbone of our students' proposal.”
