The Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) is introducing two new fashion and luxury courses to its summer school curriculum for current and recently graduated students and young professionals, from July 11 - 22.

The two new English-taught courses are: Fashion and Luxury Management, focusing on the culture and economics of fashion and luxury; and A French Cultural Experience: Fashion, Gastronomy, Perfumes, designed in partnership with the La Fabrique, the course looks at the historical and contemporary view of French luxury and its designers, as well as the discovery of leathergoods, French food and the creative process of a perfumer.

Each course is open to university-level students and recent graduates and will be taught through a series of workshops, courses, and visits.

The new summer school courses will run alongside the IFM/Central Saint Martins ‘Dual City’ course for fashion students who are looking to “broaden and enrich their design experience” in two fashion capitals. The English-taught course runs from July 4-8 in Paris and from July 11-15 in London.

The institute also runs two courses in French, covering fashion management and culture and fashion marketing and the creative process.

In addition, IFM is also offering summer courses for high school students designed for students aged 15 to 18 who are looking to get a taste of fashion education and want to find out about careers in the fashion and luxury industry. The one-week courses take place in June, July and October, with three French-taught and one in English.

The courses focus on an overview of the fashion industry including the basics of the fashion and luxury culture, understanding the creative process, and learning to communicate in fashion, with a look behind-the-scenes of a fashion show. The only English-taught course, ‘Do You Speak Fashion English?’ focuses on discovering and practicing the English language applied to the fashion industry, with workshops including pronunciation, and listening and speaking skills, as well as meetings with English-speaking fashion professionals.

The high school courses are open to all and no previous fashion knowledge is required.
