The summer holiday is approaching, and that means the period of graduation shows has arrived. Last weekend students of the Textile & Fashion bachelor of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, and the Fashion bachelor and master students of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp showed their projects. Last year the shows were entirely digital, this year the KABK allowed a small group of people. The work of the KABK and Royal Academy students will soon be shown during short-term graduation exhibitions.

KABK: experimental textiles and design in the Electricity Factory

The work of the Textile & Fashion students of the KABK was shown last Friday in the monumental Electricity Factory in The Hague.

Stef Reinierse's work - loose-fitting workwear silhouettes with flat, ladder-like structures against the front - rhymed perfectly with the factory hall. Annli Basedahl's work rather offered a dreamlike counterpart. Max Willebrand Westin's delicate textile fragments also contrasted with the drab, industrial location. Willebrand Westin's work won the Keep an Eye Textile & Fashion Award, provided by the Keep an Eye Foundation. "With attention, love, and high-quality craftsmanship, Max transforms found materials into contemporary textile design," the jury wrote. The prize, worth 10,000 euros, Willebrand Westin can invest in further educational development.

The presentation was captured on photo and video. Part of the show can be seen below. From July 1, the movie can be seen on the KABK students' digital platform, Exposed Online. Between July 8 and 11, the work of the graduates can also be visited at the academy.

Impressive video show of Antwerp Academy in renovated Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp

The bright white, still empty rooms of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp (KMSKA) formed the backdrop for the graduation show of the Fashion Master students at the Antwerp Academy. The museum is closed due to renovation, but an exception was made for the students.

The show was recorded on video and launched Saturday night on WWWSHOWW, the graduation platform of the Antwerp Academy. As usual, the students presented conceptual and high-quality executed work. The models were followed through the museum rooms by drones that alternately zoomed in and out, showing both overview images and details. In addition to the individual collection presentations at KMSKA, an impressive introductory video was made, for which the work of the master students was placed on the roofs of distinctive Antwerp buildings.

The show video can still be viewed online. Sketches, photos, and videos of the graduation collections of the master's students and those of the bachelor's students can also be seen at WWWSHOWW. From June 24 to 27, the work of all students can be visited in a physical exhibition at various locations in Antwerp.
