The London College of Fashion, UAL, has launched FashionSEEDS (Fashion Societal, Economic & Environmental Design-led Sustainability) through its Centre for Sustainable Fashion.

FashionSEEDS was developed to provide fashion educators and tutors with resources in teaching and learning sustainability practices with a focus on fashion design, it aims to illustrate the positive effects that sustainable fashion design can have on the planet.

The platform consists of the 'Tutor’s Toolkit', a guide for tutors, the 'Reader', a pocketbook in sustainable fashion design in higher education, and the 'Library', a list of reviewed external platforms.

The following fashion universities worked together to co-create the platform under the leadership of Professor Dilys Williams, the director of the Centre for Sustainable Fashion at London College of Fashion, UAL: Design School Kolding, Estonian Academy of the Arts, Politecnico di Milano and the University of the Arts London.

Dilys Williams, said in a statement: “Education is the leverage point for change in societies, cultures and economies; in this time of climate emergency, personal and systemic change in fashion is needed more than ever.

"As fashion tutors we have the opportunity and responsibility to be changemakers; to nurture knowledge, skills and capabilities that challenge damaging practices in the existing fashion system and design new systems that restore nature and equity. FashionSEEDS offers tutors connectivity and shared learning to use as they tread the path of systems change.”
