Nottingham Trent University (NTU) BA Fashion Design student Mellissa Chan has won the DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award 2021, an award that offers sponsorship and supports emerging designers.

Since 2006, NTU has provided a one-year top-up course at Hong Kong Design Institute (HDKI) where its students can either study a BA in Fashion Design or a BA in International Fashion Business.

Melissa presented a sustainable athleisure collection entitled ‘Body Geometry’. It is an adaptable and multifunctional collection created to provide comfortable clothing for those recovering from injuries.

Chan said in a statement: “Garments can be problem-solving - they can offer protection and comfort for people with injuries, helping them both physically and emotionally. I want to explore more possibilities with fashion design.”
