The annual ´Scholarship Benefit and Fashion Show´ marks one of the most beloved events of the year for students as well as staff from the Los Angeles-based Otis College of Art and Design. For the 34th edition of the event, the school has announced ten partners who will support the BA Fashion Design students, who are set to showcase their work at the upcoming benefit show. These partners include fashion designers Todd Oldham, Nanette Lepore and Bob Mackie as well as fashion brands Uniqlo, Prairie Underground, Joie, Lucky Brand, Amuse Society, Blu Pony Vintage, Michi, Perri Ellis and J Brand.

All partners bring their own expertise to the table, which means that students will be able to learn more about a variety of disciplines. For example, Nanette Lepore´s specialty involves printed swimwear, while retailer Uniqlo is renowned for its basic items. Then there are also sportswear expert Michi and sustainable brand Prairie Underground, ensuring that all students will have the chance to receive guidance from a suitable mentor.

The companies and designers will provide students with industry-insights before and during the design process. According to the Otis College, the fashion show allows all students the chance to put into practice what they have learnt about fashion design during their studies. The show features around 175 fashion designs from students who are voted for by alumni, fashion professionals and press each year. All of the designs shown during the event are then auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the Otis College scholarships. The fashion show, and the black-tie event that is held afterwards, raise on average 1 million US dollars (660.000 pounds) per year.

The Scholarship Benefit and Fashion Show is set to take place on May 7 in Beverly Hills, California. The event was founded by Elaine Goldsmith, who was the Board of Trustees´ chairman from 1983 to 1998. Together with her husband Bram, Goldsmith was also responsible for the institution of the Elaine and Bram Goldsmith scholarship.
