Students showcase designs in LCI Barcelona graduation fashion show 2022

Last week, fashion and design school LCI Barcelona hosted its graduate fashion show. The chosen venue was Sala Apolo in Barcelona, a concert hall and nightclub.

61 students from LCI Barcelona showcased their creations with projects related to fantasy and nature. The slogan for this occasion, after two years of having the fashion show virtually because of the pandemic, was 'Escape from reality'.

The fashion show, directed by head of LCI's Fashion Department Estel Vilaseca, was an opportunity for all the students to express themselves freely after the hard times of the pandemic. "What connects them all is the fact that the students, who have lived through a pandemic during their studies, have been able to escape from reality by taking refuge in their creativity," explained the LCI teacher and fashion expert.

Sustainable fashion prevailed in the student creations, which for instance featured upcycling designs made of reused pieces of clothing and materials, as well as the use of natural dyes.

The aim was to achieve unique garments, with traditional inspiration, that stand the test of time and trends. For this reason, the link with nature, but also with fantasy, was very present during the fashion show.

With its latest graduation show, LCI Barcelona also aimed to show designs that go beyond gender and morphology. Students presented the human body outside its usual format and beyond any limits.

The students of LCI Barcelona opted for all kinds of trends. While some were more elegant, others were completely groundbreaking, utilising a wide variety of fabrics that allowed them to form different shapes on the runway. This wide range of ideas made the show a prism through which to analyse the new trends in design.
