The Transformers Foundation, a unified voice representing the denim industry, has presented the fourth edition of Transformers Ed, an educational series about the denim supply chain, in collaboration with educational institute Centro Mexico.
The three-day event focuses on the design, supply chain and sustainability of the denim industry and this edition marks the global expansion of the series with all panels and presentations taking place in Spanish.
The aim of the event is to educate consumers and students about the innovational and denim practices which will be led by industry professionals, some including the founder of the Kingpins Show Andrew Olah, global movement Fashion Revolution and sustainable textile company Jeanologia.
The panels and presentations will explore topics including denim production, responsibility in the denim industry, the transcultural project ‘Future Denim, Mexico 2031’ from schools in Mexico and Latin America (LATAM), and others.
Andrew Olah, founder of Transformers Foundation and denim industry network Kingpins Show, said in a statement: “The response to our past Transformers ED events has been extremely motivating with students from 30 universities and fashion programmes across Europe and the United States attending to receive an in-depth and unvarnished crash course on the state of the denim supply chain.
“This 4th edition, we shifted our timing to accommodate Latin American students, which we couldn’t be more excited about, and spaced out the event over three days, at three hours per day. Our goal is to prepare students all around the world to enter our industry and hit the ground running with a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the jeans industry. If we want to change the future of the denim industry, we must equip the young professionals entering the industry with the best information and insight.”
The series will take place from 4-6 May and it will be entirely online via Zoom due to Covid-19.
