Sportswear brand Asics has joined forces with students of the Pensole Footwear Design Academy for the design of a running shoe. The limited-edition shoe will be available globally from September 17 in various Foot Locker stores.
Of the 1,400 applicants, 18 students were chosen to follow a three-week shoe design master class at the academy. “Through our partnership with Pensole, we are committed to fostering innovation and creativity in the next generation of footwear designers and we are thrilled to debut our winning Asics design,” said Andy Gray, vice-president and managing director of Foot Locker US.
The winner was chosen by the product and marketing teams at Asics and by Pensole founder and former Nike designer D’Wayne Edwards. The winning design is the Asics Gel-Lyte III ‘Pensole Reflect’ running shoe.
300 pairs of this shoe will be sold at select Foot Locker stores, including Los Angeles, Paris, London and Milan. The online sale will also start on September 17.
