ASU student Rain Hashimoto has been chosen by Glamour Magazine as one of the six recipients of its 2025 “College Women of the Year” award. The recognition celebrates Hashimoto’s ambition and creativity as a double major in fashion merchandising and international relations at ASU FIDM.
Hashimoto, originally from Oʻahu, Hawaii, left a stable job in luxury marketing to pursue a bachelor’s degree and fashion ambition at ASU, according to the article published on the school's website. She said receiving the honour was “a motivator to keep going” and a validation that her hard work matters — despite her struggles with imposter syndrome.
At the New York City gala held November 4, Hashimoto walked the red carpet among peers from universities across the U.S. She described the experience as surreal, noting that when she first received the acceptance email she “thought it was a scam.”
Hashimoto aims to work as a creative or marketing director for a luxury brand, and ultimately wants to create a nonprofit supporting communities affected by unfair labour conditions in the fashion industry.
