The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has launched a scholarship fund for students graduating from a fashion design programme at an American college or university. The CFDA announced the news via the Education section of its website.

All undergraduate students in their junior year or first-year graduate students enrolled in a Fashion Design programme are eligible to apply.

Candidates for a 2022 CFDA scholarship are evaluated based on several criteria, including financial need, talent, and professional potential. In addition, all CFDA scholarships cover tuition, and thesis collection/portfolio expenses.

With its new 2022 scholarships, the CFDA aims to meet or exceed the 81 percent of 2021’s scholarships awarded to diverse or underrepresented fashion design students. Out of this group of students, 80 percent identified as women.

The Council strives to sustain 500,000 dollars in scholarship awards to student talent in the United States “who are the architects of tomorrow, building a more inclusive, just, and equitable future for people and planet,” reads a statement the CFDA published on its website.
