An event at the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design revealed that college advisory council member Roberta Annan will be launching a scholarship in her name.

The scholarship will be exclusively available to a fashion candidate from Africa and the money from the fund will be channelled through the African Fashion Foundation (AFF), founded by Roberta.

The successful candidate will have their tuition fees of a Bachelor (Hons) in Fashion Communication and Industry Practice funded through the Vogue Foundation Programme as well as living expenses.

Annan said in a statement: “The college has a clear desire to be more accessible to people from a broad range of backgrounds and this scholarship is one small step towards that goal.

“Africa is bursting with talent just waiting to be unleashed and this will provide a wonderful opportunity for someone to not only move ahead with their own career but also to be an example to others on the continent of what they can achieve – and these role models are so important.”
