ESNE alumna presents FW22 collection ‘Bloom’ at MBFWMadrid

Spanish fashion designer Paloma Suárez, alumna of the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (ESNE) in Madrid, presented her Fall/Winter 2022/2023 collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (MBFWMadrid) as per a news article on the official website of ESNE.

Suárez is originally from the island of La Palma, where the Cumbre Vieja volcano erupted this past September 2021. The designer’s new collection entitled ‘Bloom’ symbolises La Palma and its people re-emerging from the ashes of the destruction left behind by the eruption.

ESNE describes ’Bloom’ as a contemporary collection “with futuristic elements, big volumes, a mixture of fabrics and glitter finishings.”

Designer Paloma Suárez is known for her slow fashion design. Her new collection combines craftsmanship, a 100 percent local production and various upcycling techniques.

The designs for 'Bloom' are made using fabrics with iridescent, vinyl or metallic effects and tulle details.

The FW22 collection was presented as part of the ‘Off’ program of MBFWMadrid, which showcases a mix of digital and physical catwalk presentations at various locations in the Spanish capital alongside the usual fashion week programme at the headquarters of organiser Ifema Madrid.

A few years ago, after finishing her studies at ESNE, Paloma Suárez was selected to present her first Prêt-à-Porter collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid as part of the Ego platform for young designers in Spain.

In addition, the designer from La Palma won the Young Talent of the Community of Madrid award in 2015 and international celebrities such as the Choe x Halle sisters, Normani, and Tiffany Young have worn her designs.
