The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) has expanded its Bob Fisch Graduate Student Award Program by announcing the Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence.

Two 25,000 thousand dollar awards were presented by Dr Brooke Carlson, interim dean of the School of Graduate Studies, and Robert (Bob) Fisch, FIT Foundation director, to support outstanding students from FIT's School of Graduate Studies' fashion design and global fashion management programs.

Stephanie Kim, Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Fashion Design student, won the award for The Yearbook Committee, a creative design house that offers creative direction, media production, and original costume design that specialises in science fiction.

Amanda Brown and Eva Carelus, Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Global Fashion Management, received the award for Maid to Alter, a circular bridesmaid dress brand with rentable dresses.

The Bob Fisch Graduate Student Award Program launched in 2021 with a fund of 300,000 dollars allocated for thesis project completion grants, mentoring sessions, scholarships for FIT's MFA In Fashion Design and MPS in Global Fashion Management.

Fisch said in a statement: "My FIT experience with the graduate students was inspiring. Their creativity and vision make me want to continue mentoring and helping them achieve their business dreams and goals.

"They remind and inspire me to never stop learning. Their curiosity is infectious! Being with the students makes me realise I do not know everything and always want to learn. They teach me about life!"

Dr. Joyce F. Brown, president of FIT, added: "Bob has a real enthusiasm for the creative ideas of young people and a commitment to listening to them and empowering them to do their best work. We are very thankful for his unique suite of gifts for two programs in our School of Graduate Studies—and for his great spirit of generosity."
