Dr. Lynn Boorady, head of the Design and Merchandising department at Oklahoma State University (OSU), has been named a Fellow of the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) for 2025, one of the highest professional honours in the field. This news was announced on the University's website.
The ITAA Fellow Award recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to the textiles and apparel disciplines through teaching excellence, professional development, research and service within the association. Boorady has served in leadership roles within ITAA for more than 30 years and was the organisation’s president in 2023.
Her research spans functional clothing design for specialised populations—including firefighters, athletes and agricultural workers—and expertise in personal protective equipment and 3D body scanning. At OSU, she has contributed to curriculum development, notably helping establish a 3D Digital Product Creation certificate in collaboration with industry and academic partners.
Boorady, who joined the OSU faculty in 2019, has previously been recognised for teaching and mentoring excellence, including receiving the university’s Leave the Ladder Down Award for her contributions to student development.
