As part of the Month for Emerging Design in Spain, the exhibition Reinterpreting Fortuny which consists of garments made by students from fashion school IED Madrid, opened its doors at the Museo del Traje (Garment Museum) in Madrid on June 1.

The Istituto Europeo di Design pays tribute to Spanish fashion designer Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo in honour of Fortuny’s 150th anniversary.

For the exposition, IED Madrid students from different disciplines analysed, studied and, subsequently translated Fortuny’s materials and his materials and techniques of pleating and printing into their own artistic expressions.

The exposition Reinterpreting Fortuny runs until July 3 at the Garment Museum in Madrid.
