Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) has appointed Danilo Venturi as IED Florence director.

Venturi aims to create new opportunities in the field of education within art, communication, design and fashion with his new role. In addition, he also wishes to increase international events and prospects for students.

Venturi has extensive experience in the field of education; he has previously worked for Florence-based fashion school Polimoda as first a writer, lecturer and consultant; he then worked as head of the business and communication department and then as director of the school.

Danilo Venturi, IED Firenze Director, said in a statement: “I am honoured to be joining the IED Group. I have recently returned to Florence after spending a period in Miami, and I do so with a renewed love for this city - I have multidisciplinary training and I have focused on fashion in recent years.

“At this historical juncture, I believe that fashion can gain a significant competitive advantage from the convergence with other creative industries, such as art and design. And vice versa. As such, IED is ideally situated to pursue such a vision since contamination has always been part of its DNA.”
