The New School’s accreditation has been formally reaffirmed by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education after concerns raised in late 2024.

In November 2024, MSCHE issued a non-compliance warning to the university for failing to meet two key standards — educational effectiveness and institutional planning/resources.

After submitting a monitored report and hosting a peer-evaluation visit in 2025, MSCHE found that The New School had addressed the deficiencies. On November 20, 2025, its accreditation status was restored.

According to the school's press page, the reaffirmation ensures that The New School remains eligible for federal student aid and confirms its compliance with accreditation standards for curriculum quality, institutional resources, and ongoing assessment practices.

The university has been asked to submit a follow-up monitoring report by March 1, 2026, to demonstrate that its corrective measures are sustainable over time.
