A new two-month research and creative residency in Milan is offering professionals and academics from the Visegrad region direct access to the Italian fashion supply chain. Open to applicants from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, the initiative provides selected participants with a 6,000 euro stipend to support living expenses, housing, and operational costs while undertaking tailored projects in the region. Applications for the residency remain open through October 15, targeting both traditional fashion practitioners and cross-disciplinary researchers seeking to examine Italian design and manufacturing models.

The program structures its two-month curriculum around independent research supplemented by structured academic coursework, industrial site visits, and institutional networking. Participants gain access to research facilities, including the Luigi Bocconi Library, along with specialized studio access and dedicated masterclasses covering textiles, fashion sociology, knitwear development, and contemporary art history. The itinerary incorporates visits to local museums, regional trade fairs, and specialized facilities, culminating in a dedicated educational excursion to the seat of AMC in Rome.

From an academic perspective, the program highlights a growing shift toward cross-border educational initiatives that bridge regional gaps between Central European talent and major West European production hubs. By admitting candidates from both fashion and non-fashion disciplines, the initiative encourages multidisciplinary methodologies, allowing institutions in the Visegrad countries to foster alumni expertise in sustainable supply chain management, material research, and international fashion economics.
