Professional fashion educator launches new online learning program

Fashion educator Eric W. Stiles Sr. is relaunching his online teaching through EWS Fashion Academy, introducing a new nationwide program aimed at students seeking flexible training in garment construction, tailoring, pattern making, and fashion design.

The program follows Stiles' previous online courses, which were delivered through 61 U.S. colleges and two Canadian institutions, including Southwestern Illinois College. Beginning 12 September 2026, the new courses will be offered directly through EWS Fashion Academy, with each seven-day mini course available on demand to accommodate students balancing work, study, and other commitments.

According to the academy, the curriculum covers subjects including professional sewing, tailoring, draping, garment fitting, alterations, pattern manipulation, commercial pattern techniques, and fashion design principles. Additional specialist modules are expected to be introduced over time.

By moving away from the college continuing education model, the academy says course fees have been significantly reduced, with most mini courses priced at 17 dollars.

Stiles has worked in the fashion industry for more than 40 years and previously trained in bespoke tailoring with Brioni in Italy. His career has included work with brands such as Giorgio Armani, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Tom Ford, alongside teaching fashion construction and tailoring since 1989.

The launch reflects the continued growth of online and alternative learning pathways in fashion education, offering students and industry professionals additional opportunities to develop technical skills outside traditional higher education programs.
