Savannah College of Art and Design has opened a new exhibition dedicated to the late fashion editor and cultural figure André Leon Talley at its campus museum in southern France, celebrating the influential editor’s legacy through garments, photographs, and personal archival materials.

Titled André Leon Talley: Style is Forever, the exhibition runs through Oct. 31 at SCAD FASH Museum in the village of Lacoste, France. The exhibition features pieces from Talley’s personal collection, which were donated to SCAD following his death in 2022.

Organisers said the exhibition presents clothing, accessories, photographs, and archival documents intended to highlight Talley’s impact on fashion journalism, luxury culture, and mentorship within the industry. Among the featured works are designs created by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, John Galliano for Dior, and Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent.

Talley, who served in senior editorial roles at Vogue and became one of fashion’s most recognizable public figures, was known for championing emerging designers and advocating for greater diversity within the luxury fashion industry. His career spanned several decades and included collaborations with leading designers, editors, and cultural institutions across Europe and the United States.

The exhibition also reinforces SCAD’s ongoing investment in fashion education and museum programming through its international campuses. SCAD Lacoste, established in 2001, serves as the university’s residential study-abroad location in Provence and hosts academic programmes across multiple creative disciplines. The campus is situated within a restored medieval village known for its long association with artists and cultural tourism.

SCAD officials said Talley’s donated archive will continue to support future generations of students, researchers, and fashion historians. The university has increasingly expanded its role in preserving fashion history through exhibitions, collections, and partnerships linked to its fashion and luxury management programmes.

Founded in Georgia in 1978, SCAD operates campuses in Atlanta, Savannah, and Lacoste, alongside online learning initiatives. The university enrolls approximately 18,500 students from more than 100 countries and maintains degree programmes across fashion, film, architecture, design, and digital media.

The exhibition comes amid renewed institutional attention toward preserving the legacy of influential Black figures in fashion history, particularly editors, stylists, and creatives whose contributions helped shape modern luxury culture but were historically underrepresented in museum collections and academic narratives.
