Scotland Fashion Now connects graduate talent with industry

The inaugural Scotland Fashion Now: Graduate Showcase has brought together emerging designers from several of Scotland’s leading art and design schools, with V&A Dundee transformed into a runway for the September 3 event.

The showcase presented 83 looks by 26 graduate designers from Edinburgh College of Art, The Glasgow School of Art, Gray’s School of Art and The Design School at Heriot-Watt University. Collections explored themes including heritage, memory, conflict, sustainability and the natural landscape.

The event forms part of Scotland Fashion Now, a new annual programme running from September 3–6 that combines fashion shows with talks, workshops and industry-focused events. A separate display also featured selected textile design graduates from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.

For fashion education, the programme provides a platform connecting graduate work with the wider industry while highlighting the range of specialisms developed within Scotland’s fashion schools, from tailoring and knitwear to textiles and sustainable design. The weekend also explored careers beyond design, including modelling, styling, production, communications and PR.

With Scotland Fashion Now planned as an annual programme, the showcase positions graduate fashion education as part of a broader effort to connect emerging creative talent with industry opportunities within Scotland.
