Italian textile company Cnc Tessuti presented a project with Istituto Marangoni Florence(IMF) at trade fairs Munich Fabric, Milano Unica and Premiere Vision, which involved a discussion between the company and the master students in fashion design at IM Florence.

"Cnc Tessuti cultivates an environmentally conscious way of thinking, which has become a priority in recent years given the acceleration of climate change. Sustainable development is a fundamental part of the company's growth. The green transition has been planned for some time now, pursuing low-impact production policies. Evidence of this is the photovoltaic system at the Cnc headquarters that covers about 45 per cent of its energy needs, as well as the certifications obtained Gots (Global organic textile standard) and Grs (Global recycle standard) that have allowed the inclusion in the collections of articles that meet the characteristics required by these standards.

In accordance with the concept of circularity and the concept of 'upcycling', Cnc Tessuti provided the students with discarded materials or old pieces of fabric, which the young designers could reinterpret and incorporate in their creations to suit their personal style.

The students at Istituto Marangoni decided to use scraps that are usually thrown away after cutting garments, and enhance them, for example, by pleating and restitching them on top of some suits. This way they were able to demonstrate the power of repurposing materials by reusing them in fashion collections that can be launched on the market.
