Thailand’s Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU) has established a strategic partnership with the Italian Institute of Fashion Management (IIFM) in Milan to launch "Experience the Italian Essence: Milan Edition 2026." Unveiled on August 14, 2026, at SSRU's Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, the initiative marks IIFM’s initial institutional collaboration within the Thai higher education sector. The executive-level program aims to directly bridge Southeast Asian academic frameworks with European luxury business practices through a combination of institutional coursework and direct industry engagement in Italy.
Scheduled for October 19–28, 2026, the 10-day intensive curriculum targets creative entrepreneurs, designers, industry executives, faculty members, and postgraduate students. Delivered in English, the program blends academic lectures by IIFM faculty and industry consultants with tactical operational exposure. Course modules focus on four primary pillars: luxury brand management, creative process formulation, artisanal production, and value creation strategies. Field-based components include visits to production facilities and design studios within Milan's Quadrilatero della Moda, alongside retail analysis at Fidenza Village and cultural immersion in Franciacorta and Lake Como.
From an institutional standpoint, the joint certification model highlights growing demand for localized academic frameworks that offer cross-border, industry-integrated specialization. For emerging markets like Thailand, direct access to European luxury supply chains and brand management expertise addresses critical curriculum gaps in international market positioning and heritage brand execution. By embedding faculty and postgraduate researchers alongside active market practitioners, the partnership provides a structural template for regional universities seeking to elevate academic credibility and global relevance without establishing full off-site campuses.
