The Italian technical industrial state institute Tullio Buzzi (ITS) in Tuscany has signed an agreement with US staffing company Manpower to launch training courses for the textile sector in Italy.

The initiative is part of a broader collaboration agreement with the aim of supporting the employment of young people and providing the skills required by companies in the textile sector located in the district of Prato in Central and Northern Italy.

The economy of Prato, Tuscany has been largely dependent on the textile sector since the 1970s. Today, more than 7,000 national and international fashion companies are located in the Italian district.

Training courses for the Italian textile sector

The first course as part of the collaboration between the two parties took place on February 1 and focused on skills for workers in the spinning industry.

The Manpower employment agency in the textile manufacturing district of Prato will organise a second training course on March 6 which will teach participants weaving skills.

Commenting on the collaboration agreement with Manpower Italy in a release, ITS Tullio Buzzi headmaster, professor Alessandro Marinelli, said: "The participation of ITS Tullio Buzzi in the framework agreement constitutes an added value for the implementation in terms of supporting the integration between education, training and work systems.

”We were able to create the programme by sharing equipment and tools for didactic and organisational innovation, which are aimed at fostering situational learning processes and enhancing laboratory teaching."

“We are able to launch the training programme thanks to the synergy between ITS Tullio Buzzi and the Higher Technological Institute M.I.T.A. Academy, of which ITS Buzzi is a partner and founding member,” he continued.

”M.I.T.A. Academy, which is also located in Tuscany, has overseen the design of the professional profile and organisation for the programme.”
