US fashion school The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) announced that it is donating nearly 300,000 dollars (about 271,000 euros) to the Mission of Mercy for Ukraine, according to a news article on the school’s website. The Mission of Mercy for Ukraine is a US based non-profit organisation helping the victims of the war in Ukraine by collecting contributions and donations.

The FIDM donation consists of 16 pallets packed with school sweatshirts, T-shirts, sweatpants, blankets, hats, stuffed animals, toys, rattles, baby bottles and water bottles. All of these essentials add up to a total value of 298,000 dollars (about 269,000 euros).

According to the FIDM statement, the Californian university’s contribution has encouraged more than 200 higher education institutions across the US and Canada to make their own contribution.

FIDM’s director of retail operations and board of trustees member at the National Association of College Stores (NACS) initiated the project. FIDM instructor Angela Fuentes introduced the school to Meest-America, Inc, a shipping company that operates in the Eastern European region and connects Eastern European countries with the US.

Meest-America will ship the donations to Ukraine.
