Distribution Center Area Manager - 1st Shift
The Area Manager is responsible for achieving key organizational goals of the distribution center through the efficient use of staff and systems on a day-to-day operational basis. The Area Manager will have full responsibility for implementing and executing all operations programs, policies, and systems within their department.
Responsibilities
- Owns safety performance for all direct reports & leads any EHS event investigation to closure
- Active participant in programs/committees that are proactive in preventing environmental and health, quality and team engagement occurrences
- Ensure compliance to EHS, quality, employee relations, etc. guidelines as it relates to the distribution center
- Drives improvements that eliminate waste and process variation
- Utilize lean six sigma tools to drive process improvements, optimizing cost, efficiency and product integrity.
- Participate in and performing internal audits and assisting with external audits and accurately disposition audit findings while considering costs and customer needs.
- Recognize and communicate customer specific requirements
- Actively contributes input to the sites daily production meetings & leads daily shift start-up meetings that covers performance for a 3-day window for team
- Leverages daily labor plans to make decisions to optimize service & cost (i.e. labor sharing or VTO)
- Assess daily demands and execute effective reaction plans by tracking performance
- Creates a short-term plan that identifies risks and opportunities to fulfill customer needs and leverages customer demand when building a long-term production plan
- Troubleshoot WMS level 1 issues as first line of escalation for current functions
- Develops current and future state value stream maps, identifying kaizen actions
- Understanding of the opportunity for material / conversion cost productivity specific to products; recognizes and identifies projects in the areas to cut costs
- Identify opportunities to reduce and/or avoid scrap and rework and takes action to minimize risk.
- Navigate through appropriation processes to secure funding and develop ROI analysis for funding requests.
- Supports financial planning process
- Lead a culture of ownership by supporting team with a high Say/Do ratio and ensuring consistent and timely accountability and feedback is delivered
- Ensure employee relations techniques are employed and that effective communication is used to optimize the operations environment
- Leverages thorough selection process for candidate evaluation
- Ties operations metrics to business goals by empowering the workforce through coaching and education
- Develops a teaming culture within current work environment through consistent treatment of all team members
- Demonstrates company values & ensure they are enforced throughout the company at all levels
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associates Degree or higher in Logistics, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent years of work related experience preferred
- Two plus years of management experience in a distribution center environment preferred
- Experience in Lean manufacturing or 6-sigma preferred
- Previous knowledge of automated DC Systems and current RF technology preferred
- Comprehensive experience working with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- Strong reasoning, analytical, and organizational skills
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with different levels within the organization
- Ability to learn and retain a comprehensive understanding of all operating systems and processes
- Ability to read, write, operate computer, conduct business related mathematics and analyze data as required
Benefits
The annual base salary range is $65,000 - $85,000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
