Senior Engineer - Monetization team (Hybrid - Seattle)

Job Description

A Senior Engineer at Nordstrom Technology is a key technical driver responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining end-to-end technology solutions. Leveraging principles from computer science, systems engineering, and user-centered design, they build scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems that enable seamless customer experiences and align with business objectives. This role carries full ownership and accountability at the solution level, including architectural design, implementation, and operational excellence.

The Monetization team is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead high-impact technical initiatives and help shape the design, development, and optimization of our ad tech platforms. This role is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about building scalable systems, applying machine learning to drive relevance, and collaborating across teams to maximize monetization opportunities. The engineer will work closely with product managers, Ad Operations, and peer engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions that improve ad targeting, performance, and revenue outcomes.

A day in the life:

• Implement complex software solutions that satisfy business objectives, with high quality
• Influence standards around security and best practices 
• Participate in design and code review to ensure the quality and testability of feature code
• Understand, identify, measure performance, and success across the entire solution
• Advocate for the continuous improvement of code quality and development processes
• Lead team projects with a focus on measurable outcomes and customer experience 
• Provide mentoring to other engineers on best engineering practices and quality
• Participate in on-call responsibilities
   

What we are Looking For:

• Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or related experience required. 
• 7+ years of professional experience in the software engineering industry
• Expertise in Nodejs, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Experience with RESTful APIs (Golang, Java, Python)
• Experience working with data warehouses like BigQuery
• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, including AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and Terraform
• Test automation experience at all levels, including Unit, Integration, Regression, and load testing
• Familiarity with ops tools, logging, and metrics (New Relic, Splunk, CloudWatch)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to persuade, inspire, and motivate others. This includes communicating technical information to non-technical audiences
• A passion for mentoring peers, innovation, clean code, and learning new technologies
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a bias toward action
• Experience in Ad Tech is a plus

Your responsibilities:

• Delivering full-stack solutions (design, implementation, and support)
• Working across the full stack of technologies (Web UI, APIs, and Infrastructure)
• Building reusable cross-platform components for future use
• Translating written requirements, designs, and wireframes into high-quality code
• System and feature design, including evaluation and feedback of others’ designs
• Understand security protocols, interpret security and compliance requirements
• Work with diverse, collaborative, cross-functional teams and 3rd party vendors

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $120,500 - $220,500 AnnuallyThis position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
