The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) collaborated recently with Dosa and FreeCity. The LACMA debuted these collaborations on Wednesday night, May 20.

Both Dosa and FreeCity are Los Angeles based brands with distinctly different styles. The two individually converged with LACMA for the fifth edition of the Wear LACMA collection of fashion and accessories. LACMA’s permanent collection previously has included designers such as Clare Vivier, Christian Dior, Charles James, and more.

Both brands have a handmade, crafty element about them bringing local emphasis back into the Los Angeles fashion community. Christina Kim, designer of Dosa, is known for her vibrant collections that emphasize a patterned and solid mix of clothing. Her collections have a feminine style include separate tops and bottoms including skirts, dresses, and more. Her apparel and accessories range from 48 to 1,232 dollars in price. Kim was inspired by paintings “Watts Towers” and “Watts Towers With Kite” for the LACMA installation.

FreeCity’s Nina Garduno collaborated with the museum using inspiration from Philippe de Chapaigne’s painting “Saint Augustine,” according to WWD. Many of FreeCity’s pieces encompass and active, stylish lifestyle including hoodies, t-shirts, and comfortable sweatpants. Known for its relaxed, streetwear, FreeCity was created by founder Garduno in 2005.
