In a good trading week ending August 6, 2016, John Lewis total sales were 73.7 million pounds (96.1 million dollars), an increase of 7.3 percent on last year. Fashion sales rose 5.4 percent on the year on the back of a strong demand for beauty, with sales rise of 7.8 percent, helped by the launch of a Charlotte Tilbury counter in Peter Jones. Menswear sales were also 11.4 percent ahead of last year.

The home category sales grew 5.4 percent on the year with sales of outdoor living items increasing 13.3 percent. The company said, launch of an exclusive collaboration with Loaf also bolstered sales in the home category.

EHT had a strong week, with sales growth of 11.2 percent on the year. The company said customers are making high-tech purchases ahead of their summer holidays, with cameras and wireless headphones both proving popular. The warm weather also continues to drive sales of home cooling devices, which finished the week with 61 percent rise.
