Roksanda Ilincic, Mary Katrantzou, Nicholas Kirkwood, Peter Pilotto and Emilia Wickstead have all been shortlisted for the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund 2013 prize. According to the British Fashion Council, the nominated designers

represent the “best” of London’s thriving fashion talent in ready-to-wear and accessories, and are the labels that are in the strongest position to develop into a “global fashion brand”.

The
winner will be announced on January 29, 2013, and will provide one designer with a bespoke, high level mentoring support programme over a twelve month period, as well as a £200,000 grant to provide necessary infrastructure to take them to the next stage in their business.

Commenting on the shortlist, Alexandra Shulman, Editor of British Vogue and Chair of the Fund Committee, said: “We have an incredibly strong short list of contenders for the fund. It is wonderful to see the impressive talent coming out of London that has reached a stage in their business where they can qualify for the prize.”

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, added: “The high standard of applications and presentations demonstrates the growing number of both highly creative and professional fashion businesses we have here in London and the great potential for growth in this sector."

The Fund, now in its fourth year is a legacy project from the BFC’s 25th anniversary celebrations, and previous winners of the fund have included Erdem, Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders.
