Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation names 2012 winners

Italian winemaker Ecco Domani has revealed the seven up-and-coming designers who have won the 2012 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation awards, across its womenswear, menswear, accessory and sustainable design categories.



There
were four recipients in the women’s category: German-born twin sisters Daphne and Vera Correll’s label Correll Correll, Eighteenth designed by Alexa Galler, design duo Julie Haus and Jason Alkire make up label Haus Alkire, and South Korean designer Sunhee who launched her self-titled line for autumn/winter 2011.

The other winners were: Tim Coppens in the menswear category; Dezso by Sara Beltran took the accessories award; and Titania Inglis, who launched her eponymous label in 2010 scooped the sustainable design accolade.

Each winner receives a grant for $25 to help showcase their collections during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York.

Now in its eleventh season, the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winners were decided upon by a panel of judges that includes the likes of Sally Singer, Julie Gilhart and Kim Hastreite. In previous years the foundation has help to launch the careers of designers including Zac Posen, Derek Lam, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Alexander Wang, and Rag & Bone.

Last year’s recipients were: Bibhu Mohaptra, Mandy Coon, M. Patmos, Pamela Love, Native Son, The Lake & Stars and Study NY.
