Denim brand Evisu is relocating its headquarters back to Hong Kong and is shutting down its New York office. Besides the new location, the company’s chief executive officer and creative director Scott Morrison is leaving the firm.

When
Morrison joined the company in May 2009 he moved the base of Evisu to New York in order to further expand the brand in the US. Unfortunately after two seasons, brand owners Indus Capital Partners decided not to further develop the US market to cut costs.

Besides Morrison several seniors were notified, and only a couple of junior staffers will stay on to finish off the New York operations. We are led to believe none of the staff are offered any severance packages. Morrison previously co-founded Earnest Sewn and Paper Denim & Cloth labels.

Founded in Osaka in 1988, the fashion label for both men and women still has its biggest market in Japan. Four years ago parent company Bestford bought the rights of Evisu's regions outside of Japan, and is also based in Hong Kong.
