Gant by Michael Bastian

Michael Bastian will design his first-ever women’s collection Gant by Michael Bastian for SS11. Key buyers can have a first peek in July at Gant, 2 Basil Street, Knightsbridge, with a formal press unveiling this September during New York Fashion Week.

The women’s collection will be positioned both by price point and styling as a modern contemporary collection with a sharper fashion edge. It will encompass everything from tailored separates and dresses to denim and swimwear.

Michael Bastian comments: “For a while now I've been thinking about expanding into women's design, and I'm really happy and grateful that GANT is giving me this opportunity. I'm very excited to begin exploring who the female counterpart is to my Gant guy. While he is pretty straightforward and sporty, I feel the Gant by Michael Bastian girl will be a little more of a surprise.”

Before launching his own brand four years ago, Michael Bastian held positions within Sotheby's, Tiffany & Co., Polo Ralph Lauren, and most recently, Bergdorf Goodman, where he was the men's Fashion Director. Now in its ninth season, Michael Bastian is carried in over 50 retail locations in America, Canada, Europe, Japan and the Middle East.

The inaugural Gant by Michael Bastian collection was launched for Fall 010 and will be available from 25th August 2010 in key global markets,  eaturing a lacrosse-inspired men’s American sportswear collection. The line will be available in the UK at Selfridges Oxford Street London, Gant Regent Street and Brompton Road stores and nationwide at Gant’s online shop.
