Interstoff Asia Essential Autumn will take place from 27th to 29th September at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Following requests from exhibitors and visitors, the fair has moved from a date in early October to the new one

in late September.

This
should better suit the sourcing needs of buyers and suppliers and clash less with other fairs in the busy autumn fair season. “We’ve listened to feedback from our exhibitors and visitors, and the overwhelming preference has been for an earlier date due to the changing sourcing times within the region. We believe this new date will allow more business to be conducted immediately after the fair,” said senior general manager Wendy Wen of fair organiser Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.

Hong Kong is the gateway to Asia

With Hong Kong increasingly becoming the textile industry’s gateway to Asia, many international visitors and exhibitors bank on Interstoff Asia for doing business with mainland China. After all, nine of the top ten countries for Hong Kong’s textile exports are in Asia, with exports to the region accounting for 92 percent of the total. Though 2012 was a bit slow, Hong Kong’s textile exports are already back on track and increased in January by 40 percent, mainly spurred by re-exports from China.

“Hong Kong is in a unique position on the doorstep of the booming Chinese economy. This fair is an ideal opportunity for exhibitors from around the world to meet with buyers from this market who are looking specifically for high-end textiles and accessories. While for visitors, they gain access to cutting-edge textiles suppliers, in particular from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan,” said Wen.

Sprawled over 9,000 square meters in halls 5B and 5C, visitors can expect the latest in terms of textiles and accessories, cutting-edge fashion, trend inspiration for the next season and insights into market developments. They can also look forward to a range of seminars, for example on trends and design, new technologies and their application on textile products (like washable merino wool), market information and certification (pre-registration required). Other popular Interstoff Asia events are the Trend Forum and the Fabrics to Fashion Walk.

Interstoff Asia is a pure trade event and is not open to the public. Last year, the fair attracted more than 6,500 visitors from 43 countries and regions and almost 180 exhibitors from 9 countries and regions. Opening hours will be from 9:30 am to 6 pm on Wednesday and Thursday and 9:30 am to 5 pm on Friday.
